The Banner Systems Project ... Banner is an administrative database that houses all student-related data; essentially tracking student activity from recruitment to graduation. It provides data integrity, accessibility and flexibility for enhanced decision-making, and improved service to students. The Banner database is directly linked with our online Student Information Services, which allows for web-registration and web-based faculty grade submission. Students can now make credit card payments online.

Need a Banner ID?
To obtain a Banner ID and password, you must first submit an online Access Request form and then complete the self-paced computer-based training.  After your form and CBT score have been received your ID will be emailed to you. ID requests may take up to two business days to process.  If you should ever need access to additional Banner forms or tables you must complete an Access Change Request form.  After approval of the change has been received, access will be granted. 

SIS
SIS provides students and faculty secure Internet access to personal and public information in the Banner system. Student, faculty, and staff can change passwords and register their wireless laptop using SIS.  Students can also register for classes, manage personal information, view grades, and add printing funds.  Faculty services available in SIS include schedule, rosters, waitlists, grade submission and general student information. All faculty members must submit final grades online via SIS. A SIS Personal Identification Number (PIN) is required in order to login to the system. Contact the Office of the Registrar at 810-762-3344 to obtain a PIN. The SIS Web site is http://www.umflint.edu/sis.

Training
Each department/unit on campus is responsible for giving the individual the necessary training to do their jobs.  However, the Banner General Navigation training is required for all new users in the form of a self-paced online (CBT).  The tutorial is self-paced; it should take you less than an hour to complete.  The tutorial is located at http://ww2.umflint.edu/its/projects/banner/training.  You will need to be logged into your computer to access the online tutorial.  If you are asked to login, just login exactly as you would to use webmail.  Since procedures and standards vary from office to office, each department is responsible for training their employees in more specific uses of Banner modules.   If you have any problems with the online tutorial, please contact the ITS HelpDesk at 766-6804.

Scheduled Down Times
Banner has scheduled downtime every Saturday evening 9pm to Midnight for backups and on the third Sunday of every month for system upgrades and maintenance.  The SIS website, Banner, WebSam and student computer id creation will be unavailable during these times.
