Student email conversion
|
The following information directly affects our student population and it is important that you know about the student email conversion from Pegasus to Outlook.
By popular demand and in response to the need for a more integrated web-based communication tool, Information Technology Services is pleased to announce the availability of Microsoft Outlook for Students starting in winter 2004. (Funds for this were made possible through the student Technology Fee.)
We are communicating this important information to the students in a variety of ways including sending email messages to students at least once every other week, creating screensavers in open labs, creating an informational website and test site, providing seminars, hanging posters in highly visible areas, and forming a partnership with the Student Government to assist with our communication effort.
To make this a smooth transition, we are asking for your assistance in communicating this information, as well. All that we ask of you is to remind the students to check and thoroughly read their email for details of this MAJOR change. This reminder could be done verbally during class and/or while staff are assisting students within the office setting.
If you are curious in learning about some of the benefits and services, please see the brief list below. In addition, we’ve created a comprehensive website with much more information. http://www.umflint.edu/outlook/students
IMPORTANT CHANGE- Auto-forwarding email through the SIS website will no longer be available. The currently auto-forwarded student email account will expire on January 23rd. ITS recommends that students use Outlook as their primary email account. However, should they wish to autoforward from Outlook to AOL, Hotmail, etc., they will need to go into Outlook at least one time to set up the autoforward process, as opposed to going through SIS. . . .
