Freedom To Learn (FTL)

Description

This program places laptops into the hands of 4th through 8th grade students. Students are able to use the computers in class and at home. To date, Flint schools has placed approximately 3000 laptops into the hands of children. Collaboration with U of M - Flint has provided needed technical assistance to ready the laptops for deployment. Additional collaboration could be possible with the Genesee area Freenet to provide lowcost dialup access to the many children involved with this project. Not only does this make the internet a resource for children, but in many cases it would make it available to the entire family unit.
